Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson was born in 1940 in Columbus, Ohio. She received formal training at Columbus Art School (now Columbus College of Art and Design) and The Ohio State University. In 2004 she was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. Her diverse body of work ranges from drawings and woodcuts to complex sculptures and mixed-media fabric works. Robinson’s work is included in the collections of the Columbus Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Baltimore Museum of Art, and Studio Museum in Harlem. Solo exhibitions include Symphonic Poem: The Art of Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson. She passed away in May 2015. She is represented posthumously by Hammond Harkins Galleries.
