Mike Major served as Ohio’s first Artist-in-Residence. He is a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, with a BS and Pratt Institute, New York, with an MFA. For over 45 years Mike has worked full time in his studio in several mediums including painting, print making, drawing and sculpture. In addition to publishing 14 books of drawings he is best known for over 46 public monuments throughout the US and sculptures for private collections. He has received national recognition for his work. The Ohio Legislature also recognized Major for his contribution to the arts for Ohio.
His studio is in Urbana, Ohio. He served on the Frank Lloyd Wright Westcott House Board and several other non profit boards. His hobbies include flying his Beechcraft Bonanza and sailing.
